Wendy Woudstra’s career has spanned freelance writing, multiple roles within the publishing industry, and several decades as an application developer. Long before she began writing fiction, she was immersed in the mechanics of how books are made, marketed, and sustained, an experience that continues to shape her understanding of story and structure.

After years spent building software systems and digital infrastructure, she returned to long-form storytelling with a particular fascination for quiet histories and the complexities of relationships. She now writes stories that explore buried secrets, local histories, and the unintended consequences of truths resurfacing.

Wendy is the curator of PublishersArchive.com, one of the web’s most comprehensive directories of publishers, literary awards, and book festivals. The archive reflects her longstanding interest in the publishing ecosystem and her commitment to bringing clarity and structure to the business of books. She is also the owner and lead developer of SmarterWriter.com, a platform to help writers manage their projects, queries and submissions.

She has recently launched MapleMysteries.ca, a discovery engine for crime and mystery novels set in Canada, from coast to coast to coast. Every province and territory is represented, and more titles are being added weekly.

She lives in Ontario, where she is currently working on several books and stories, including a cozy, a corporate suspense, and a stand-alone middle grade adventure novel.
